🙅🏻♀️Can I Quit Being a Bridesmaid? (Part 1)
Nicole called the bridesmaid hotline this week. She found herself in a situation that maybe you've been in before.
She was asked to be a bridesmaid for a friend from college. She's now 32. Over the past decade, their friendship hasn't been consistent. They see each other 1x a year and catch up via text every few months. Nicole feels like this friendship is hanging on by a tiny thread and that it's hardly alive.
However, a few months ago, this friend asked Nicole to be her bridesmaid and Nicole quickly said yes – as most people do.
She felt honored and obligated to say yes.
But Nicole is scratching her head right now wondering what to do because her life is falling apart and this friend doesn't know.
Nicole: lost her full-time job, broke up with her boyfriend (she lived with him), has to find a new place to live, and is just struggling because of all of this change at once.
She said yes to being a bridesmaid when life was stable. Even though the friendship was ehhhh she felt like she could just show up and do it.
But now, she has no interest. She said:
“I don't care about picking out colors for bridesmaid dresses when I'm spending 4-hours a day applying for a job and trying to find a new place to live so I'm not forever stuck living in my parent's house.”
Nicole called the bridesmaid hotline begging for help.
So what would you tell Nicole?
I'll update you next week on the advice I gave her. I think it will shock you?
