📞 Hello? Hi. It’s me, Jen Glantz. Welcome to the 1-800-Bridesmaid, by Bridesmaid for Hire. A place where real stories are shared and your best advice is given.
This week: A bunch of bridesmaid dilemmas hit the news this week. How would you have handled them?
Last week: A bride asked for your advice on what to do about her bridesmaids who are talking badly behind her back. What advice would you give her?
Hold please:
Pay $300 to attend my bridal shower
Last week, a bridesmaid shared on Reddit that the bride (who is also her cousin) asked every guest invited to her bridal shower to pay $300 to attend.
The reasoning behind this? The bride is planning her bridal shower and doesn’t want to front the costs for another venue and catering menu. Nobody in her life wanted to plan it so she did it. But she feels like she shouldn’t have to pay for it all herself.
Bad mouthing me? Goodbye.
Another story that hit the news this week is from a bridesmaid who was asked to go wedding dress shopping with the bride and maid of honor. The maid of honor couldn’t go so she went solo with the bride. The bride asked her to send pics to the maid of honor of her in dresses. So she did via the bride’s phone. But when she opened up their text chain, she noticed a lot of texts bad mouthing and making fun of her.
She decided to leave without telling the bride. Later, the bride called her and she told her what she saw on her phone. The bride said she wasn’t trying to be mean and talked around the situation.
The bridesmaid isn’t sure what to do.
I was a bridesmaid. But the wedding happened without me.
A woman shared that her best friend asked her to be a bridesmaid and she happily accepted. But the wedding kept getting pushed back because of the pandemic and other issues.
It finally happened but the best friend only found out about it because of social media posts the bride put up. She wasn’t invited to this new wedding - which had over 100 people there.
She deleted and blocked the bride on social media and her phone number.

What’s new with Bridesmaid for Hire:
Jen Glantz here! I’m so grateful you’re here. I started 1-800-Bridesmaid as a way to bring you into the world of my life as a hired bridesmaid for strangers.
If you’re wondering what I’ve been up to lately, here’s a little preview:
A lot of you are reaching out to see if we are still hiring. Yes, but at the moment, there aren’t any open positions. I’ll keep you posted inside the newsletter when open positions to work weddings pop up.
My team and I developed these interactive maid of honor/best man speech, wedding officiant speech, and wedding vow tools. You chat with us about the stories, details, and memories you want to include and I write the speech for you — in just a few hours. If you have a wedding coming up and need a speech, check this out. We’ve expanded this month to offer wedding officiant and father of the bride/goom and mother of the bride/groom speeches too!
Did you know we have a Bridesmaid for Hire book? It’s a best-seller on Amazon and it dives into how I started the business and what it’s been like to work weddings as a hired bridesmaid.
I'm Jen Glantz and this is my Bridesmaid for Hire newsletter.
